How Data Sync Works

Nexus uses a peer-to-peer database designed for real-time sync without a central server. Every device holds a copy of your data. Changes are timestamped and cryptographically signed by you. Devices sync automatically, and conflicts resolve by earliest timestamp.

Relay Network

Devices find each other through Nexus relays—redundant servers that route messages and facilitate sync. They don't store your data permanently. Multiple relays mean no single point of failure. Your data stays encrypted end-to-end.

Ownership Cryptography

When you claim a device, you get a cryptographic keypair that proves ownership. Not a database entry. Actual math. Transfer ownership? The keypair transfers. Prove ownership offline? Works. Cryptographically irreversible.

Conflict Resolution

Two devices offline, both editing the same setting? Nexus uses timestamp-based resolution: earliest change wins. Every change is signed, so devices can verify without a server deciding. No "last write wins" randomness.

Security & Privacy

This Is Not Blockchain

People see "cryptographic," "decentralized," and "no servers" and assume blockchain. It's not. Here's why that matters.
